Kinesiophobia and Physical Activity: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Rmd script

This repository contains an Rmd script "Kinesiophobia.Rmd" to conduct the meta-analysis examining the relationship between kinesiophobia and physical activity as well as subgroup meta-analyses and the meta-regressions. Kinesiophobia_Physical_Activity.pdf is the pdf version of the .Rmd file.

R scripts

When Pearson’s correlation estimate (r) was not reported in an article, but the exact p-value and sample size (n) were available and it was possible to know the sign of the correlation based on the information provided in the article, the r value was computed using the 'Pearson r calculation.R' script. When exact p-values were not reported in an article, but the sample size (n) and Pearson’s correlation coefficient were available, the exact p-value was computed using the 'exact-p calculation.R' script.

Data for analyses in Rmd

The data used in the Rmd script are in '2024-05-02_meta_analysis_kinesiophobia_r.csv' for the main meta-analysis based on r estimates, and in '2024-05-02_meta_analysis_kinesiophobia_rho.csv' for the secondary meta-analysis based on rho estimates.

Data from authors

Corresponding authors of articles that did not reported a correlation estimate of the association between kinesiophobia and physical activity were contacted. The 'Information_from_corresponding_authors.xls' file reports the estimates or data sent to us by the corresponding authors and that were included in the meta-analysis. The 'Unanswered emails.docx' file reports the references of articles for which we did not receive a response to our emailed data request.

Quality scores

The 'Quality and bias assessment.xlsx' file include the quality score computed by the reviewers.
