Dash & Jump Count Mod

This mod adds dash and jump counters to the game. You can configure whether to show those in Mod Options:

  • Dash/Jump count in chapter panel: you can show your lowest or total dash/jump count on the chapter card, along with deaths and strawberries.
  • Dash count on the "Progress" page of the journal: you can show your lowest dash count or your total dash count per level, along with the other stats per chapter.
  • Dash/Jump count in-game: you can show either of those:
    • Session: the amount of dashes/jumps you made since you started playing the level. That is the one that is taken into account for your "fewest dashes" records, and for the winged golden strawberry. If you dash then die, it will revert to the count it was in the last checkpoint.
    • Chapter: your total dash/jump count on that chapter
    • File: your total dash/jump count on the entire save file
    • File + Chapter: your total dash/jump count on the entire save file and on the chapter, in the format File (Chapter) (for example 12 (3))
  • Do not reset dash/jump count on death: when you die, the game usually resets your dash/jump count to what it was when you entered the room, except in some circumstances (like grabbing strawberries). Enabling this option will prevent that reset from happening. This also affects the dashless golden in chapter 1!

Please note that the vanilla game does not keep track of total dash counts per level, or any jump count. So, the dashes you made without that mod installed will not be counted in the "dash count per level" counters. Everything related to jump counts will not be counted if you don't have the mod enabled either. Everything else (total dashes on the save file, and your "fewest dashes" records) will be counted even if you play vanilla, though.

This is because the game originally had a "fewest dashes" journal page, but it was removed and replaced with the winged golden strawberry. There are still remnants of it in the vanilla game: a "Best Dashes" counter on each level, a "dash count" icon, and a "Fewest Dashes" journal page title that was translated to all languages. This mod makes use of all of these, and keeps track of dash counts per level itself for completeness.
