First run

  1. Push any of the buttons. The LED indicator will start blinking and new a new Wi-Fi access point "Hugo_XXXXXX" will appear for 5 minutes.
  2. Connect to the network with your phone or PC and open URL http://10.10.10.1
  3. There you will set your Wi-Fi credentials and IP address of your diyHUE server.
  4. (Optional) To further improve performance and battery life, you can add your router's gateway IP address and also pick a static IP for your remote. You will also have to set the static IP on your router.
  5. Press SAVE AND REBOOT to exit Config AP mode and resume normal operation. The remote should respond to ping requests when buttons are pressed.

Registering the remote in the Philips Hue app

Push and hold buttons 2 and 4 until the LED lights up for a second, then release. This will register the remote in diyHue and it will appear in the Philips Hue app, under Settings > Accessory setup, or under Devices > Smart Controls in the Hue Essentials app. If this doesn't work, double check if the bridge IP is reachable from the network Hugo is connected to.

MAC Address

Since version 1.3.1 you can find the device MAC address on the configuration portal. The configuration portal SSID also contains the last 6 characters of the MAC address. This can help set up a static IP in your router.

Changing settings

Push and hold buttons 1 and 4 until the LED indicator starts blinking. To shut down Config AP mode and resume normal operation, just push any button.
