1.2.0 search is case sensitive

It all of a sudden seems like search has become case sensitive?

It's a bug, it's not supposed to work like this, here is the issue: #3818

This fix will be done in v1.3: first RC at the beginning of July and official release 31st of July.

I think we would be able to live with that, but in general, I find it a bit weird, that such a huge breakage doesn't allow for hotfixing.

As this seems to negatively affect other search paths/features.

This fix is not an easy one. It's related to the search refactoring we made to increase the engine speed and the team's velocity. We don't know exactly how to fix it yet and how it would affect the other relevancy features of Meilisearch. That's why we decided doing a hotfix here can be risky.
However, I will inform the team. We are soon at the end of the sprint and it might be possible to dedicate more time to this bug fix soon.

Just to highlight that the linked issue here has been fixed with v1.3.0-rc.2. 🎉

You can test it by using

• the release assets
• the Meilisearch Docker image

docker run -it --rm -p 7700:7700 -v $(pwd)/meili_data:/meili_data getmeili/meilisearch:v1.3.0-rc.2
