At some point Eleventy V3 will be released, this is to prepare for that.
I should be able to get rid of the custom Markdown link renderer because Eleventy V3 now has an inputPathToUrl filter and transformer plugin.
Only thing left is to be able to handle anchors, I've submitted a PR for that: 11ty/eleventy#3276
