Reduced the image size from 2.62 GB to 1.8 GB through the following optimizations:

  • Removed the apt package list, savings of 19 MB.
  • Skipped the pip upgrade, savings of 20 MB.
  • Deactivated the pip cache, savings of 64 MB.
  • Removed the gcloud backup, savings of 726 MB.
