In any of the following cases where an international standard, etc. cited in a corresponding international standard is replaced with JIS, the cited JIS number, etc. is underlined with a side line or dotted line.
If a reference to the corresponding International Standard is provided in translation, the translated provision shall be underlined with a side line or a dashed line. In addition, it is advisable to include a note stating that the reference to the International Standard is specifically defined.
Interestingly, in JIS there is no underline. I wonder if we should just repurpose underline for the dotted line.

that is quite interesting how the underlines "left extend" to cover the "note" but not the "example".
i am sorry i have never seen this before. perhaps they can only be "determined" by a human?
