Drag and drop not working #959
Comments
same here |
Same problem here. Debian Buster, Gnome 3.30.2 |
Same. Has anyone found a solution? It's really weird, because I have another machine with Buster installed and the extension works fine on it ... |
+1 |
The issue also occurs on Arch Linux on Gnome 3.32 and Dash To Dock 66. |
Unlikely - I am on xorg. |
Not really a solution not even a work-around, but if you take out all favorites you can add them in the order you would like them to be. Kinda obvious but might save some frustration. |
For me, the issue is intermittent. Right now I could move my favorites but sometimes it's no longer possible. |
Same here (on xorg, using pop_os!), can't reorder the icons in the dock. It was possible when i had a fresh distro install. Suspect there might be a conflict with other gnome shell extensions but have not tested. Interesting to note, that when i deactivate the dash-to-dock extension, i then still can't reorder icons in the regular gnome dock. |
same here, a bit frustrating. |
Add me to the list as well. Arch Linux + Gnome 3.32, Dash to Dock v66. |
Same here with GNOME 3.26.2 on OpenSUSE Leap 15.1. |
Same here on Manjaro Gnome 18.10 |
Same here on Pop!_os 19.10 GNOME 3.34.1 dash-to-dock 67 |
+1, Manjaro 18.1.2, Gnome 3.34, Dash to Dock 67 |
For me the problem turned out to be (what I assume) was a conflict with the appfolders-manager extension. Workaround:
Pop!_os 19.10 GNOME 3.34.1 dash-to-dock 67 |
Interesting insight. Upgrading to the new pop_os! (ubuntu 19.10 based) made the appfolders-manager extension redundant, as the functionality is already built into the new gnome that ships with it. Since upgrading and deactivated the extension, dash-to-dock re-ordering works again as excepted. |
I can confirm landwark's suggestion works and appfolders-manager was the culprit, in my case at least. There was a bug report there as well and I chimed in on it too. |
Don't work for mee too. Arch, gnome 3.34.4 dashtodock v67 |
mine also doesn't work |
Yes it works now, I struggled with it so much |
At Archlinux with dash-to-dock 67 and gnome-shell 3.36 found another workaround since appfolder didn't install at on my system
So as you can see for my env bug reproduce only for extension location top or botton |
Thanks @vkravets - That workaround allowed me to drag and drop my launcher icons. Manjaro 19.02 |
Same, reordering only works when the dock is either or the left or right. Manjaro 19.0.2 |
I am having the same issue. The workaround detailed above (switching from BOTTOM or TOP alignment to either LEFT or RIGHT) worked for me. |
Confirming on Arch. |
Well, none of these fixes worked for me, I still can't reorder them even when moving the dock or by disabling appfolders-management |
For me dran-n-drop working for all except Java applications: #1377 |
Restarting GNOME session fixed it for me: Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS |
I always restart my GNOME3 session because without that language switcher is not working when I connected via xRDP. But drag-n-drop still not work for Java applications. Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
|
Same problem here, using Fedora 38 and gnome 44 (the problem showed up when I installed V-Shell and Just Perfection extensions). Maybe there's a way to "clean" the settings? |
Favourites in AppGrid extension also causing the same conflict, drag and drop won't work anymore. Dash to Dock maintainers could cooperate with other popular extension maintainers to avoid conflicts. Just Perfection extension maintainer starts issue to make extensions compatible with each other, but sadly seems like Dash to Dock maintainers have no time or interest to cooperate. |
It actually is not a conflict with Dash to Dock and Favorites in Appgrid that causes this annoying issue. It's an issue with FiA itself as having it enabled also borks the default dash and Dash to Panel. |
Gnome Version 3.32.2, v66.
Drag and drop functionality is missing. Favorites can't be rearranged.
