Notes for running PhantomJS on Heroku:
First, you need to install PhantomJS AND Ruby on Heroku. To do this you need to use multiple heroku buildpacks. First run this:
heroku config:add BUILDPACK_URL=https://github.com/ddollar/heroku-buildpack-multi.git
Then add a .buildpacks file to the root directory of your app, with this:
https://github.com/stomita/heroku-buildpack-phantomjs.git
https://github.com/heroku/heroku-buildpack-ruby.git
Second, you need to point your app to the PhantomJS executable files on Heroku. To do that, run these commands:
heroku config:set PATH="/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/app/vendor/phantomjs/bin"
heroku config:set LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/local/lib:/usr/lib:/lib:/app/vendor/phantomjs/lib"
That should do it. If you run into an error, check your heroku logs. If you're getting the error "H14 no web processes running", try running:
heroku ps:scale web=1
