eBay mobile app: 'Update required'

Was working fine when running Nougat 7.1.2. Already tried downgrading to several previous versions of the eBay mobile app to no avail.

Registered for GCM fine.

Thanks for getting back so quickly. Yes, I started with the latest version 5.33.1.2 released on June, 28 and worked my way down until 5.30.1.2. The above error only seems to occur with the latest version, while the others return arbitrary error codes upon search requests.

Same issue here on LOS 16 with the same version of ebay and microg installed.
On a Tablet running RR Pie with microG 0.2.8.17785-beta-1 (8b4852b-mapbox) it's working though.

EDIT:
Actually not the exact same issue. It simply crashes on starting while trying to load content (like pictures). If block connection to apisd.ebay.com via NetGuard it does not crash anymore but simply does nothing and load nothing.

@gasso0n: Nanolx now has switched back to the official build of microG in the latest Nanodroid.
It would be better if you do it also.

Dug a little deeper and found this:

I deduce from it that's it not a microG specific issue. If eBay can't get their stuff together even on official devices with Play Services, don't hold your breath it's gonna work without them.

I downgraded to Oreo 8.1.0, still says Update required.

The eBay app immediately crashes when opened on MicroG. The app is working properly on another Android device with Google Play Services. Both devices use Android 9.

After updating to the new release of the ebay app 5.34.0.9 the problem still exists. It tells me to update to the latest version and won't load any content.

I can confirm the issue with a h850 (LG G5) and an unofficial LineageOS 16 Installation alongside microG.

eBay app seems to be working again.
I do not know if it is due to ebay or the newer microG version, but after my upgrade to version 0.2.11.xxx of microG, ebay now works just fine.
Can somebody confirm this with me? Is anyone still on 0.2.10.xxx and can test if it works there?

I can confirm that the eBay app is working again. Sadly at the same time the eBay-kleinanzeigen app stopped working for me.

As I wrote in #1007:

The app temporarily worked for some time in 2020, but eBay changed something and it stopped working again. Right now, the eBay app is not working with microG.

Edit: Actually, I'm completely wrong. My DNS over HTTPS (DoH) provider blocked ads, and the eBay app apparently refused to fetch data because of this. Switching to a different DoH provider without ad blocking fixed the issue for me, and after logging in, the eBay app continues fetching data even after I re-enabled the DoH provider with ad blocking. Good to know that the eBay app's hard dependency on an ad/tracking server is the problem, and not microG.
