Environment

Windows build number: [run "ver" at a command prompt] 10.0.18362.356 x64
PowerToys version: 0.11.0
PowerToy module for which you are reporting the bug (if applicable): Fancy Zones

Steps to reproduce

  1. Configure Fancy Zones settings on Desktop 1 and configure as per your wish
  2. Open any app and drag it to the Fancy Zone, it works
  3. Press Win+Tab and create a new Desktop
  4. Open an app in new Desktop
  5. Try to drag it to a Fancy Zone, your configured setting is not retained

Expected behavior

The zones layout should be replicated on each desktop I create. So dragging a window with shift enabled should give me the same behavior on each desktop regardless of whether it is the primary one or not. Quite Similar to #332

Actual behavior

The zones only works on the primary desktop. With another desktop, it can only maximize the windows. I don't know if this is by design but from my point of view, it makes sense to replicate the zones layout on each desktop or add an option to do so.

Workaround

Open Fancy Zones setting on the new desktop and close it. The layout selected on the primary desktop is retained here too.

Added "virtual" to the title to make it easier to search.

Adding this for additional repro steps and information. This shows that using FancyZones shouldn't require mouse input.

Environment

  • OS: Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.18362.418]
  • PowerToys Version: 0.13.0
  • PowerToys Module: FancyZones

FancyZone Settings

  • All Defaults except the override Windows Snap hotkey (win+arrow) to move windows between zones is on.

Additional Repro Steps

  1. Win + ` to open settings and configure layout on current desktop
  2. Win +Ctrl + d to create a new desktop
  3. Open any application and try to snap it to the zone.

Expected Behavior

After switching to the new desktop the layout created should be retained.

Actual Behavior

Have to reconfigure the layout again.
