NOTE: the application preview (Teams, Meet, etc.) may show the overlay image flipped horizontally but that is expected, the image will show correctly to the other people on the call.

Was doing a toggle and i don't think we're stopping the bubble through for keyshortcuts. I was working on the release notes and in a meeting and the hotkey was bubbling down to the text box.

I'm getting a green flickering screen when using the integrated webcam on my Lenovo P52. @enricogior Let me know if you need some webcam information or want to test out stuff.

I also have a Lenovo laptop and I have the same problem, hopefully we will have a fix soon.

On a Surface device with a 3:2 aspect ratio screen the scaling for the toolbar is off and makes it really hard to read the text on it.

Not sure if this is part of "with some webcams, it fails to properly forward the video stream", but VideoConference doesn't see my virtual webcam:

MS Teams does:

thank you for reporting the problem.

An option to hide the mic/cam notification after X seconds, even if they are disabled, should be useful.
I always keep them disabled and only enable them when I need them.

Thank you guys, this app is great! : )

After a reboot the virtual camera just show a lot of flickering with no camera image. I saw this happening to another colleague as well. Is that being tracked somewhere?

For everyone who wants a larger toolbar, the zip called Icons2.0.zip contains a larger variant on the Windows 11 style toolbar I've made. It's suitable for more DPI levels.

VideoConferenceMute causes Nvidia Broadcast to throw error on Launch: "Check your microphone connection and restart NVIDIA Broadcast".
Disabling the module as Admin fixes the problem.

For those who don't know, you can just replace the icons in C:\Program Files\PowerToys\modules\VideoConference\ (while PowerToys is not running).

@Janneske2001 With 150% they are still a bit small on my 250% scaled 4K laptop screen, but it is already much better than before :)

@bobvandevijver Yeah, forgot to mention that. But thank you for liking them, and if you want I could easily recreate them for 200% or 250%. And altho just upscaling the images already does the trick, I want to let it look clean, so I will redo them all.

@Janneske2001

Hey @niels9001, is there perhaps a way I can officially contribute to PowerToys by submitting my images?
I just recreated them all again, Windows 11 style, and right now I have images for the following DPI settings: 100%, 125%, 150%, 175%, 200%, 250% and 500%. The 500% ones probably won't be used much, but it's more of a template for me, with this one I could create all sorts of sizes.
I also changed the font I was using to the font that was originally used (Segoe UI).
Of course I hope that these images will eventually make it to the final product, it did take some time redesigning them 3 times, but I'm happy with the result. Perhaps of all of them could be included, and letting the user decide what size they want.

125%.zip

200%.zip

And as @bobvandevijver already mentioned, you can just replace the icons in C:\Program Files\PowerToys\modules\VideoConference\Icons\ (while PowerToys is not running).

Awesome!

I do see a render glitch though (which does not seems to be related to the PNG). It is a blueish outline, which actually fades away after switching.

True, it's pretty annoying, it looks like semi-transparent pixels cause this... I don't know how to fix this to be honest. I think it's the way PowerToys displays the picture.

@Janneske2001 There's a tracking issue for updated icons as we try to closely align with the Windows 10/11 look and feel and iconography : #13385.

Thanks for sharing the work around! I think the bigger ask here is how to make sure the toolbar images render on proper sizes for all DPI settings - manually tweaking that isn't a great experience. And ideally we'd move to .svgs as well so they render sharply. Btw, might be better to continue this discussion in a separate thread as this is meant to report bugs :).

So opening as non admin should fix the issue of being able to select it? And then switching it back to admin should still be possible right?

Yes it s possible.

1/ switch on VCM (if it's off, you can't switch it on without admin level) 2/ restart as non admin 3/ select overlay picture 4/ restart as admin (and select always start as admin if you want)

As non admin I can select image and image is visible in VCM setting when restarting as admin. But when turning camera off with keyboard shortcut it does not show the image, it just blanks the screen (in Microsoft Teams).

Ah, just realized this is because I have a custom background in Teams. So the VCM background cannot / does not override the Teams background. Would be cool if it would replace the Teams background and when unmuting go back to the Teams background.

Does this mean this is the place to report issues on 0.49.1, or shall we open new, separate issues? (I think I can guess the answer 😜)

Having this installed breaks NVIDIA Broadcast, apparently due to limited DShow support in the virtual camera device. I have pasted the relevant sections of the NVIDIA Broadcast logs below. Disabling the feature in Power Toys does not correct this, I have to entirely quit PowerToys. I understand that dealing with NVIDIAs failure to handle unsupported devices is not a PowerToys problem but disabling the plugin should entirely disable the plugin, including removing the virtual devices.

I fixed my own broadcast broken issue by simply delaying the scheduled task for broadcast in the task scheduler by 5 minutes. Don't know if it was the same reason as you though.

Is there an issue tracking the toolbar size being too small already?

I don't see a VPowerToys Virtual Webcam in the list of available cameras. Have tried on two computers, without any luck. In both cases, PT launched under administrative privileges.
