  1. In the video tutorial's "Step 3:
Deploy the Moodle Assistant Bot to Azure," around the 10-second mark, the Microsoft Application Registration Portal link was not present on Moodle. To address this, I utilized an alternative approach by registering a new app in the "App registrations" section of the Azure Portal. I've attached screenshots (Attachment 1 and 2) to confirm the placement of the Application ID and Client Secret in the correct locations within the Moodle Teams settings. Kindly verify this setup for accuracy !
    please also see attached.

  2. Regarding "Deploy to Azure / Custom deployment,"

creating a LUIS Prediction resource using the LUIS portal.

see this error :
{"code":"InvalidTemplateDeployment","details":[{"code":"SpecialFeatureOrQuotaIdRequired","message":"The subscription does not have QuotaId/Feature required by SKU 'S0' from kind 'LUIS'

}

‘’’As advised by Microsoft support’’’
after migrating from LUIS, I was unable to create a Prediction resource using the new portal
which I migrated to conversational language understanding
.

  1. Step 4: Deploy your Microsoft Teams app
Following the instruction to deploy the Moodle tab to Microsoft Teams by uploading the "manifest.zip" file, I encountered another challenge. After clicking on the Moodle tab within Teams, I received the error message "Team refused to connect to Moodle"

@weilai-irl - I'll coordinate the doc issues on the Microsoft side. Would you please help with the app connection issue?

It seems that the LUIS Azure AI Service has been entirely replaced/subsumed into Azure AI Language Service. From Azure Marketplace, "Azure AI service for Language enables you to build apps with industry-leading natural language understanding capabilities without machine learning expertise. It consolidates familiar capabilities previously available in Language, QnA Maker, and Language Understanding (LUIS) into a unified service. With a single API call, harness decades of Microsoft's state-of-the-art research and ground-breaking NLU capabilities."

Also, this is presented on Microsoft Learn's How to create and manage LUIS resources:
2023-12-17_22-06-56

... which means that the documentation relating to Moodle Chat Bot creation and deployment [here] and [here] and [here] will need to be reviewed and revised.

As it stands, the Moodle Chat Bot, per current guides cannot be created.

Hi all,

As @tictag has pointed out, LUIS will be retired on October 1st 2025; in fact, since April 1st 2023, the ability to create new LUIS resource has already been disabled. With this in mind, and the relatively low uptake of the bot integration feature in the plugin suite, @mmast-msft and our team decided to retire the bot integration in the plugins. This change will be made in the next release.

Users who have created LUIS resources before 1 April 2023 and configured bot integration can still use the feature, as long as they don't upgrade their plugins to the most recent releases (it will be 4.1.4, 4.2.3 and 4.3.1), in which the bot integration functions will be removed.

Regards,
Lai

Hi @eamon55

For the Teams integration issue mentioned in your original post, please take a look at my comments at #1343 (comment), which contains the most likely reason.

If this doesn't fix the issue, we will need a bit more details, e.g. Moodle version, plugin version, browser used, and whether the "Check Moodle settings" button in the "Teams integration" tab on the Microsoft 365 integration configuration page in Moodle has been clicked etc.

Note that your email address is masked by github, and we normally provide help only via github issue comments.

Regards,
Lai

Bot functionality was decommissioned. The latest versions no longer have the bot feature:
