Firefox: blank page opening vscode.dev #145647
Comments
I had same problem on first try on FF, but once I logged into GitHub once it worked fine. |
@eeue56 does it work on reload? It works for me in my DevEdition Firefox, but only works on reload in private browsing. |
Nope, doesn't work on reload. I'm already logged into Github. |
This also doesn't work in Safari 15.4/macOS 12.3 |
@jsma confirmed. Safari ( |
@eeue56 Any error in devtools? |
@jsma Can you create a new issue for Safari? Let's keep the discussion on the original poster's issue, which is about Firefox. |
I could but I'm not seeing evidence this is browser specific. Going directly to https://vscode.dev/github/microsoft/vscode-docs/blob/main/api/language-extensions/language-server-extension-guide.md is not working for me in any browser (all caches/local storage cleared). No amount of refreshing will load this page. Here's the console from Firefox Developer Edition, which shows IndexedDB errors and CSP warnings: Here's the latest Microsoft Edge (with "strict" tracking protection on): If I turn off all tracking prevention in Edge: |
There were some CSP warnings as jsma mentioned. I disabled enhanced tracking protection and now I get a bunch of errors about IndexedDB, like:
|
CSP stuff is OK, shouldn't block anything. It feels like your IndexedDB is just broken at this point, for some reason. |
I think the overall issue is this where we fail to open IndexedDB: @eeue56 did you configure anything in your settings that could prevent IndexedDB from being opened or created or maybe some quota limit is hit. Nevertheless, we should probably make sure that the page comes up even when no indexed DB connection is possible. |
Can you reproduce if you disable them all? Can you reproduce on a separate machine? |
Still doesn't work with all extensions disabled. |
I tried a bit in Firefox Dev Edition to reproduce on v100. Found other issues but the site always loaded. Throwing in Troubleshoot Mode as option to test and different tracking protection settings. |
I can reproduce on a clean profile at the first load on Firefox Nightly 101. This is the console.log
Note the series of
|
On Reload it displays, And the console.log now displays:
|
@karlcow What is the actual URL you're opening? I can't repro: |
@joaomoreno
Actual: it probably never quits the loading stage #monaco-parts-splash.loading {
opacity: 1;
} <div id="monaco-parts-splash" class="loading"></div> When I switch the opacity to 0 I see the UI underneath. |
@joaomoreno did you try in a clean profile with no addons installed and no previous login? |
Yep. On Windows. |
Hi all, I have seen such similar problem when using codespace-like product:
And at last we added some events on indexeddb in vscode to handle this situation. Hope that is helpful. |
On my Firefox, I don't see any problems with requests in the Network tab. |
@eeue56 Can you see if it fixes the problem by updating Firefox to latest, because BrenTech mentioned that Firefox 103 is released to the public. |
Nope, same problem :( |
Same problem in Chrome! |
Debugged today and startup gets stuck here: By adding a I didn't have other tabs opened and it was a fresh browsing session, but here's what I found: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/40121865/indexed-db-open-not-trigger-any-callback/40136887#40136887 |
For users seeing the issue on Chrome, what version did you try ? Does the issue repro with Chromium |
On the page https://code.visualstudio.com/api/language-extensions/language-server-extension-guide, if you click Edit at the top, it takes you to https://vscode.dev/github/microsoft/vscode-docs/blob/main/api/language-extensions/language-server-extension-guide.md which is just a logo on Firefox.
