In the newly released version 1.43.0, with Electron 7.1.7, or the latest 1.44 insiders, the window is dim, and the text area has a gray box in it when HDR is enabled in Windows 10. This seems to be a regression of issue #68069, so this is probably an upstream Electron bug again. This issue was not present in VSCode version 1.42, with Electron 6.1.6.

Screenshots are posted here Note: I took these with my phone's camera to avoid a separate Windows 10 HDR bug. The Windows 10 HDR screenshot bug is almost three years old now. It would be great is you could work with the Windows team to fix it.

  • VSCode Version: 1.43.0
  • OS Version: Windows 10, 2004 Insiders

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Enable HDR in Windows 10 with an HDR enabled monitor
  2. Launch Visual Studio Code 1.43.0 or 1.44 insiders

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes
