@stephengillie sorry to nudge you but you are mentioned on this page as a reviewer.

Latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Version vanity URLS not up to date

According to a question I asked about the version mismatch on the official download page I got the answer that this version is a preview version of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable.

The official download page lists v14.38.33135.0 as the current released / GA version of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable, and the v14.40.33617.1 is a preview version offered by WinGet (according to the answer on the developer forum).

So if the information provided on the developer forum (v14.40.33617.1 is a preview version) then my guess is that WinGet should not offer this preview version by default as 'the latest' version because it's not the GA version.

Hi @grimson73,

You're right that pre-release versions shouldn't be included in the mainline PackageIdentifier. If this manifest really is a pre-release version, then it should be removed (and possibly readded under a different PackageIdentifier).
