Crafting not working on most items. Pressure plates, buttons, andestite, and planks can be crafted, but nothing else. Everything else working perfectly on previous Bedrock version, but issues on recent launcher update to run Bedrock version 1.16.210.05 for x86.
Additional lesser issues are: torches are not fully rendering, and game crashes more frequently.

These are two confirmed bugs of Minecraft 1.16.210, not caused by this Launcher, see here

I consider the crash as random, and I'm unable to fix it.

My idea was to hide this version, but there are people who have other priorities ChristopherHX#48 (comment), so I added 1.16.210 even with these bugs.

I agree with the adding the version, as I also wish to play multiplayer with cross-platform friends and family. I would suggest always adding a version, but adding warnings so that we know there are potential issues with the version. I'm now stuck not being able to play one of my worlds because I used the new version, but I'm also grateful to be able to join in on the multiplayer where I can deal with the issues.

You can still craft, shift left click the item from the crafting book to craft (not to be confused with the red crafting table output)

but adding warnings so that we know there are potential issues with the version

Adding this is more work than you might think. Including, but not limitted to changeing the json schema of this repo https://github.com/minecraft-linux/mcpelauncher-versiondb and add bug info per version (the list is huge). Complicate the logic of the buggy qtlauncher and enhance parsing the new format.

This Launcher allways allowed you to lock the game version to a specfic (older) Minecraft Version. (like 1.12.1.1)

What you're describing does sound hard; I was more thinking just a quick message written by you to warn us there may be an issue we're not aware of.
The 'red crafting table output' is what I'm experiencing; thanks for the tip about clicking in the book (I should have clued into that).
I didn't realize the launcher allows you to lock a game version; I'll try that next time.

I have been boggled by this issue: crafting output turns red for anything that requires more than 1 input item; like sticks or even torches.
Thanks to your comment here @ChristopherHX, I realized that I can click shift+click in the recipe book to craft something quick. The issue was that it ended up crafting "as many as possible" of those items!

What did the trick was ctrl+right-click, it creates a single item. May be this is a known shortcut, was new for me. So noting here for others like me.

Craft with the Craft Book on the left, do right click on one item, that you want to craft!

Temporary solution:

Guys, while the problem is not solved, you can easily play survival in the last versions by doing the following: by going to the game settings, on video and putting the UI profile in Classic, when you are crafting the item, on the left side the row appears, keeping the left ctrl and clicking with the right side of the mouse you will craft the item.

Just adding notes for where the workaround mentioned above does not work:

  1. Merging tools / weapons. You cannot merge two half-broken crossbows into one.
  2. Expanding/upgrading maps, by placing more paper around the map.

Basically you still cannot make things that require a crafting table; but are not directly craft-able from the recipe book.

uhhh guys if u put a eny consol contr it will let you craft

Also to add crafting recipes aren't working and buggy unless you pick the item and than shift right click to make multiple of them which is a pain.

that it's a actual bug in bedrock itself?

Obviously yes, the bug and more appeared in December 2020 in Minecraft Beta for intel devices, I first thought this is just a beta bug, but no it persist

  • Install Android x86_64 with the google play store start the survival world and you would notice this bug!
  • Run mcpelauncher for arm and you would tell me this bug doesn't exists, because Android arm(64) is not affected by this bug (Thats why mojang don't care about fixing it)
  • This bug happens on blustacks (intel or amd obviously), emulators are no reason to fix it
  • Only very few android devices have an intel cpu.
  • This bug report: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-117105 open since 5 month was no reason to stop 1.16.210 to be released
  • Starting with 1.16.210 symbols are stripped again, making a mod or debugging to fix this more complicated, (I don't play with this launcher, I could just use my free copy of the win10 edition on windows 11)

@coreybruce

Hmm I see well that's a pain, you could do yourself a solid and just play the superior java edition instead of the crappy bedrock one 😉

All jokes aside I do hope they fix it.

@cat142 For me, Ctrl is also used for crouching, so try holding whatever key you use for crouching and click on a recipe.
@kylerifqi I am also confused by this. From what I just read, Mac keyboards have a Control key, but its Command key is generally responsible for what the Control key would do on Linux and Windows.

I'm locking this issue, because some people don't want to read or wait for the page to be loaded to highlight the workaround.
To craft as many items as you can:

Shift left click the item from the crafting book to craft (not to be confused with the red crafting table output)
#478 (comment)

To craft a single item (do a right click instead of pressing shift):

What did the trick was right-click, it creates a single item
#478 (comment)

Everything else has no workaround: like these things

Do you think this is a bug of this Launcher? No it is a reported bug MCPE-117105 for all android x86(_64) devices More details.

This is a won't fix, if mojang isn't going to fix it someday you need to deal with it forever. Nothing we can do other than getting a linux/arm64 PC to play without this bug using this launcher.
M1 mac won't work in arm mode as this launcher doesn't support it, it will crash if you would going to compile it.

Mojang fixed it in 1.18.0.25!
Ca. 1 year of development, after breaking it.

Edit: Fixed in 1.18.0.24, broken in 1.16.210 - 1.18.0.23

This issue is indeed resolved by Mojang in 1.18.0.02 🙂

Now I'm so used to performing the workaround (shift-right-click recipe book) that it doesn't matter much to me 😂

tassaron commented Dec 9, 2021

The update just released so you have to wait for the launcher to update so it knows it is compatible. I just opened a pull request so it should happen soon.

Using an update that is incompatible could potentially damage your save file. This version works fine though so you could force it work using dev-mode and allowing incompatible versions in the settings. Run the launcher from terminal with -d flag. But please be cautious if you use this workaround for future versions (if they're not compatible there is no guarantee what will happen).
