Welcome to the BTE3207_Advanced_Biostatistics wiki!

Without biostatistics, we cannot interpret what the data is telling us, how the experiment was done, and what to do for the next step. Additionally, recent technology developments boosted the data collection and resulted in an expansion of data's 3V characteristics (volume, velocity, and variety). To understand changes associated with big data in the biomedical field, this lecture will cover understanding what data science is, and how to use it to understand consequences. Furthermore, as this lecture is part of the biological engineer specialization, it will cover how to employ those data science skills and statistical inference, in the bioprocess engineering fields such as optimization.

The first half of this lecture will cover basic concepts of statistics and biostatistics terms and their meanings. In the latter half, conventional statistical models, specific ways to apply and interpret them, and their limitations will be covered.
