I want to buy one of these chassis boards for the intended purpose of s-video and component modding it, making these inputs available. In your latest video about the Commodore 1702 monitor conversion you briefly mentioned you would go over the component mod later. Maybe temporarily soldering those connections in for a test and seeing if changing the "YUV" option in the service menu enables them?
I wasn't sure if you had planned on trying the 25" variant of the board as well, if you have a tube that is compatible in size. I know that's a bit of an ask. But you're the only source of documentation on the internet at the moment for these "new" aftermarket chassis boards and you've kind of put them on the map. I only see a handful sold on the AliExpress listing pages, so not much out there in terms of info yet.
I purchased one of the boards for smaller sets https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806024115198.html which seems to be a newer rev of the board. The part number on the silkscreen is WJ-T09A-V.4.0. It still has a Toshiba IC that seems to be pin-compatible with the one shown in the video but the board layout is different (it has AV2 enabled and wired up to the top AV jacks by default instead of video out).
I enabled the YUV input and connected it through some capacitors and 75ohm terminating resistors and it works! I did have to cut two traces because this rev of the board connects Cr and Cb together and then grounds them through a capacitor. Yin didn't even have a pad on the board so I soldered directly to the pin. It seems to work well although I have some random faint lines that I believe is just interference from the long un-shielded wires in my breadboard setup.
Another nice feature of the newer board is that, once I enabled S-Video, I was able to input Luma on AV1 input jack and Chroma on AV2 input jack and it just works without any board modifications.
Even though I fumbled my way through this mod it would be cool to see Adrian's take on it as well!
