Commented by: Be-ing What build are you using? Please try the latest build from https://downloads.mixxx.org/builds/2.3/macOS/Mixxx-2.3-latest.dmg |
Commented by: billjobs Thank you for the quick response :) Unfortunately I get the same problem with this build. I might try again on my Big Sur system with the same device. |
Commented by: Be-ing Please attach the ~/Library/Containers/org.mixxx.mixxx/Data/Library/Application Support/Mixxx/mixxx.log file after trying to configure this device. |
Commented by: Be-ing That log does not show that you tried to use the device. Attach the log after you try to configure the device and shut down Mixxx. |

Expected Result: I am able to play the master audio through my sound device normally. Actual result: I am shown an "internal PortAudio error" prompt. After closing Mixxx.app and relaunching, I am greeted by the same error message as in Step 1.

Commented by: Be-ing I still don't see any log messages from SoundManager in that log. What version of Mixxx are you using now? In Mixxx 2.2 the log is in a different place ~/Library/Application Support/Mixxx/mixxx.log |
Commented by: billjobs I'm using 2.3.0-beta (build 2.3 r7960), I ran a search on my system for anything "mixxx.log" and funny enough I found one that was updated today at this path:
This one has the SoundManager error you're looking for: |
Commented by: Be-ing Thank you for attaching the log. Unfortunately the log doesn't show any more information than the error in the GUI. :/ I don't know what is going wrong. If you are having issues with other audio software then I suspect the root problem is in your system, not Mixxx or PortAudio, especially considering that other macOS users are not confirming this issue. |

Commented by: foss-4 Would be nice to receive your test results form Big Sur or if you are planning to stay on Catalina a little longer, update to 10.15.7 and the latest supplement updates from Apple. Was a bit surprised to read 10.15.6 in your initial report. |
Commented by: billjobs Sorry for the late response — I can confirm that this issue no longer occurs on either my Big Sur system or my Catalina system after updating to the latest supplement updates. |
