Mixxx explorer 'Browse' should support m3u file format to read playlists directly (without import)!
So if you browse to a Windows folder (Mixxx explorer 'Browse') containing e.g. m3u files they should be read and shown in the track list. (s. VirtualDJ)
At the moment they are NOT shown/detected...

I find this kind of odd. Would an M3U be treated like a folder that you click to enter or would it be as if the music files themselves are in the folder?

Typically I find albums that come with the tracks but also an M3U of the files in order. This feature would make folders like that include all the songs twice.

I'm for keeping the browse feature simple and very much like an operating system file browser.

I thik it is up to the user to choose if he wants access to up-to-date playlists quickly OR if he wants fix album-like playlists once loaded by import! The DJ knows about the possibility to get the same songs via two ways and will be able to handle that!
No, the big advantage is the possibility to have two methods to access to song sources. To individually and independantly load a song to a playlist without the duty of a carefully or systematic collection via the Mixxx database.

See also VirtualDJ. They did the same and I think it is consequent.

It is easy for the Mixx explorer to resolve m3u files and show it in the track lists, isn't it?

I agree we should show playlist files in the browser feature.

This would be an other solution for hierarchical playlists.

The first step is just showing the file name and allow to import it via the context menu or put the files to autodj.

I do not like to expand it in the current directory, but showing them in the track list and open it by double click in a in a playlist view might be an option.
To be consequent we need also display the ordenary subfolders and the .. folder in the track list.

The other option would be to show the playlists files only in the tree view . But browsing through a deep tree is odd.

I thing its middle easy and requires some affort.
@falk: If you like to pick up that task, I would support you and help you getting started.
