i'm using a generic usb sound card for my mic input, and asio4all as the sound driver for mixxx. in preferences, the mic is set to channel 5 when mixxx starts, which is the correct channel. however, it doesn't make any sound until i select a different channel, then reselect channel 5.

Having the same issue. I use my Logitech H540 headset for Headphone output and Microphone input over Jack with PulseAudio bridge. Headphone cue works fine but microphone input needs to be reset each time. Procedure needed to "Reset" the microphone input is as follows.
Set Microphone input to None, then click apply. Set Microphone inup to System, then click apply.
If the above procedure is not followed each time Mixxx is started the microphone input will not work.
