Which version of Mixxx do you use?
Please provide the mixxx.log file from a faulty start, located on ~/.mixxx

It is also helpful if you could create a backtrace:

From your mixxx.log, it looks like a good run.
Does Mixxx freeze when browsing to /home/matthaus/Documents/Mixing Traxx 1/ ?

Yes, and at times it  uses way more ram than it says it should use.

Hi Matthaus,

please provide as much details as possible. This way we might narrow the problem.
What do you mean with
"at times it uses way more ram than it says it should use"

Is only the /home/matthaus/Documents/Mixing Traxx 1/ effected or other folders as well.
What is the content of the folder? Does it happen when you remove some of the files from the folder?
Maybe it is caused by a corrupt id3 tag of a specific file.

Kind regards,

Daniel

According to the user manual it requires approx 1 GB of ram, but when I try to run it, it will start fine for a minute or two, but then as it idles it starts eating up more ram for no reason.  One time it was using  5 GB of ram  thats when my system froze, and after about two minutes it crashed and my system returned to normal.
Note: I have 2GB of ram but it does the exact same thing on my 4GB computer with ubuntu 12.04 intel celeron 2.6ghz

Also it does not only effect/home/matthaus/Documents/Mixing Traxx 1 it effects others as well, the folder contains music

Hi Matthaus,

do you have any idea what must happen to start the RAM eating?
Is Mixxx eating RAM if you just start it?

Does it start of you disable all waveforms in preferences?
Do you have a Controller connected?

Maybe it is Bug #1016460

Kind regards

Daniel

Yes all I have to do is start it. I do not have a controller attached and it does start if i disable all waveforms.

I cannot reproduce the issue.
I have just installed Mixxx 1.11.0 on Ubuntu 12.4 64 Bit.

And the memory footprint stays constantly at 76.5 MiB since one hour.

Please verify that the you select a "empty" Waveform from preferences and both spinnies are off .
Than restart Mixxx and check again.

Please try to start with a fresh database. This cane be don by rename the hidden folder ~/.mixxx. Mixxx will create a new one when started.

OK you individual problem is solved.

I will keep this bug open, because the underlying issue is still valid:
Why was the db become corrupt?

This might be a concurrency problem of the db using threads.
I wander If this happens again, after we merge Nazar's project.
