If you imort a track from an extrenal library with propper metadate in the library but not in the file, then following happens:

metadata is generated from the file name
generated metatdate is assumed as "from Mixxx lbrary"
Artist / Title Metadata from the external Library is rejected, in favour of generated data.

This is an aspect of Bug #⁠880569
