2.2.2 Hangs on app startup (ubuntu 18.04) #9728
Comments
Commented by: Be-ing I suspect this is related to the OpenGL changes in 2.2.2. Try running mixxx in a console with the "--safeMode" command line argument. If that works, try selecting different waveform renderers in the Waveforms preferences and restart Mixxx without --safeMode. Let us know which renderers work and which do not. Do you use the proprietary nVidia driver or nouveau? |
Commented by: uklotzde Maybe related: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mixxx/+bug/1840527 |
Commented by: eberlin I use nouveau, but safemode started did not work |
Commented by: eberlin I've switched to proprietary drivers (nvidia 390) and it works |
Commented by: uklotzde Are you able to attach the logs from the hanging startup sessions? Maybe they contain some details about what fails. Otherwise we have no chance to analyze and fix those issues. |
Commented by: eberlin The logs (mixxx.log.#)from those attempts are unfortunately empty. The logs from the work-around today and previous (2.2.1) release are intact |
Commented by: daschuer I think we can close this, because we have a workaround. |

Launchpad Issue: lp1841467
I recently upgraded and finally launched Mixxx 2.2.2. It hangs at the startup screen, with the progress bar barely moving much towards the right. At that point, it already takes over pulseaudio, so videos within Chrome (youtube, etc) no longer play and even using the mouse cursor (scrolling, clicking) no longer works. The killall command and other methods to terminate the application fail and the only way to close it is to reboot the OS.
I have an Ivy bridge processor and nvidia ge650m video. MIxx hangs either with a numark mixtrack pro or edirol ua25 connected.
The previous release in the ubuntu repository worked fine
