Please guide us about basics of extension writing

Hi,

I really appreciated your effort on extension writing. Actually, I was looking for the same..I wanted to write extension for PHP but don't know how. Can you please tell us about basics of extension writing in PHP. I mean to say, how should I start? Which environment I required? From where I should start in order to write simple extension? How to write header and c file and how it is affect it?

Please let me know. Thanks. I would be grateful if you can give some information on the same.
