I can confirm that this app is working with the named device in principle.
"Listen" and "RC" are working as expected, "Media" is empty and "Device" is a blank form.

HI @ojaksch, thank you for feedback. I looked into the Communication Protocol for your receiver. Unfortunately, this model does not support almost all messages that are necessary for Media and Device tabs. Does the official Onkyo Controller app support media selection for your receiver?

@mkulesh This one? https://www.de.onkyo.com/de/produkte/remote-app-58370.html
I'll have to check that today. My TX-NR414 is driven by the last available firmware and the site says Available only with after 2011 network A/V receivers The TX-NR414 was released at 2012 :)

Just tried the named app and it seems to work. I can switch between inputs, enter the setup, config the speakers, use the app as a cec remote for Kodi ...
Maybe the latter firmwares differ from the from the original communication protcol?

Hi @ojaksch, I can try to fix the message communication between the app and your receiver. However, I need the logging from the app in order to understand which messages are actually available for your device. Are you able to collect the logging for me as described here: https://github.com/mkulesh/onpc/wiki/Collect-Logs?

Извините! I totally forgot this task. I tried to catch up today following your advice for collecting logs, but the only things it logs are

--------- beginning of system
--------- beginning of main

Hi @ojaksch, thank you for response!

I implemented the second, more comfortable way that allows to collect logging:

  • Install the latest nightly build generated today: https://github.com/mkulesh/onpc/raw/autobuild/autobuild/onpc-v1.1-debug.apk
  • Open "Settings" dialog and activate the "Developer options" an the end of the settings list
  • Go back to the App. An application menu (three dots on the left of toolbar) appears
  • In the App, start playing song from any source
  • Press the application menu button and select the menu "Latest logging"
  • Long press on the text and than press "Select All" from context menu
  • Copy this text in buffer ("Copy" from the context menu) and send it me per e-mail
  • Open "Settings" dialog again and DISABLE the "Developer options"

Please DO NOT enter any account information/passwords when the "Developer options" are active! "Developer options" are only available in the debug build on the github; logging collection is disabled in the release build.

Great, log created. Problem here is that I could select and mark some words or lines on a tap, on a long tap I can hear the context menu popping up but couldn't see it here in the app to select the complete text :(
So I made some screenshots...hope that helps anyway.

Hi @ojaksch, thanks for screenshots. Of course it is really difficult to analyze logging from images :). However, as I suggested, the main problem is that your receiver does not provide some messages that are important for "Media" and "Device" tabs.

As the first step, I added all possible input selectors to the "Media" tab. Not all of these selectors are available on your receiver; you can disable not working or not necessary selectors in the app settings, "Input selectors" window.
Could you please install the latest build build generated today: https://github.com/mkulesh/onpc/raw/autobuild/autobuild/onpc-v1.1-debug.apk

Do you see now Input selectors in the "Media" tab? Do these selectors work? Could you please make and send me screenshots for "Media" and "Device" tabs?

@mkulesh , great progress! Many/most functions are now working. Screenshots enclosed.

  • device: device info is still empty, but I can set the dimmer level :)
  • listen: switching between sound settings, sound level and controls are working
  • media1: switching between input modes is working
  • media2: playing a internet radio stream shows playlist and possible streams/alternatives

Anything left I should check?

Hi @ojaksch, thank you for testing. Do you use different zones or does you receiver have only one zone? A ask because the app will show only one zone. If you need, I can also add all 4 zones into the navigation drawer, but I can not check whether a zone really exists on the receiver. If you do not need additional zones, I propose to consider this issue as implemented and close it.

Thanks for asking, but no, I'm using one zone per receiver only (I habe two TX-NR414, one per floor).
