Currently, Fabricate allows only for medium objects at 2 mana, but I believe it should be able to create longer ladders and bridges, or bigger doors with more mana.

I need to rework the wording here to work more like walls.

@Marcloure feel free to suggest how this should be worded. I agree with your goal, but don't necessarily want to build the wording myself. If you reword the spell I'll do my best to update it.

Feel free to reopen if you suggest wording.

Base spell text is:

You can fabricate a Large or smaller object (contained within a sphere), given a sufficient quantity of raw material. If you are working with metal, stone, or another mineral substance, however, the fabricated object can be no larger than Medium (contained within a single 1-meter cube)

For the augment:

Augment
You can augment this spell with the following options, expending mana or psi for each option.

  • You can expend 1 additional mana or psi to fabricate a Huge or smaller object. If you are working with metal, stone, or another mineral substance, you can fabricate a Large or smaller object.
  • You can expend 2 additional mana or psi to fabricate a Gargantuan or smaller object. If you are working with metal, stone, or another mineral substance, you can fabricate a Huge or smaller object.
  • You can expend 3 additional mana or psi to fabricate a Gargantuan or smaller object of any available material.

There is a lot of repetition there, so maybe something can be simplified.

You can expend up to 3 additional mana or psi to increase the maximum size to the next size category. For example, if you expend 2 additional mana, you can fabricate a Gargantuan wooden bridge or a Huge stone statue.

Hmm, this doesn't quite cover the need as walls do. Wall description:

A wall extends from its point of origin in a straight path up to its length and covers an area defined by its width and height. Every 1 meter of a wall is a panel.

Wall of Stone has some good wording too:

You can use this spell to bridge a chasm or create a ramp. If you create a span greater than 4 meters in length, you must halve the size of each panel to create supports. You can crudely shape the wall to create crenellations, battlements, and so on.

Closing unless someone else does the work here.

I don't understand what is required then; what is wrong with what I suggested above?

I saw the comment, but I don't understand what isn't covered. The original spell has "(contained within a single 1-meter cube)", we just need to increase the size of this area too, no?

The comment above shows how walls are worded. The wording you suggested does not even come close to the options provided by the wall wording.

As you spend 10 minutes to cast this spell, you convert raw materials into products of the same material. For example, you can fabricate a wooden bridge from a clump of trees, a rope from a patch of hemp, and clothes from flax or wool.

Choose raw materials that you can see within 20 meters. You can use them to fabricate an object or a wall:

Object. You fabricate a Large or smaller object (contained within a sphere), given a sufficient quantity of raw material. If you are working with metal, stone, or another mineral substance, however, the fabricated object can be no larger than Medium (contained within a single 1-meter cube). The quality of objects made by the spell is commensurate with the quality of the raw materials.

Creatures or magic items can’t be created or transmuted by this spell. You also can’t use it to create items that ordinarily require a high degree of craftsmanship, such as jewelry, weapons, glass, or armor, unless you have proficiency with the type of artisan’s tools used to craft such objects.

Wall. You fabricate a nonmagical wall of the raw material twice as big as normal. The wall can’t occupy the same space as a creature or object and doesn’t need to be vertical, though it needs a firm foundation.

The wall is an object made of the raw material that blocks line of sight. The wall can be damaged and thus breached. Each panel has 15 Defense, 1 Soak, and 20 Health per centimeter of thickness. If the wall is fabricated from metal, stone, or another mineral substance, it has 3 Soak. Reducing a panel to 0 health destroys it and might cause connected panels to collapse at the GM’s discretion.

You can use the wall to bridge a chasm or create a ramp. If you create a span greater than 4 meters in length, you must halve the size of each panel to create supports. You can crudely shape the wall to create crenellations, battlements, and so on.

There is my attempt. The Wall section is basically a copy of Wall of Stone with some edits. You can surround someone without a save, for instance, but the spell has 10 minutes of casting time, so that should be fine.

Fabricate can now create a wall and be augmented for larger objects.

Thanks!

A creature might not be aware of what you're casting so it's good to have, imo.
