What changes are proposed in this pull request?

Simple change to parsing empty paths to resolve to absolute path, which avoids an error in Repo.

I'm having trouble setting up the test environment. dev-env-setup.sh fails and I don't know where I would put a test. Everything I found is mocking Repo or _get_source_version or something further up the call tree, so wouldn't actually produce the error.
