Hi All:

Its time to get serious about the rollout of Discuss 2. :-D

Yes, it still could be 6 months or even a year until its needed, (I have no special knowledge about that) but in order to roll out Discuss 2 properly, it will need to be tested. The real developers can only move so quick, and they can't do everything. So others from the community have to jump in and fill the gaps.

Its also tough for the MODX crew because the MODX forum is so huge, so its an incredible effort to port or migrate or implement the new system.

The MODX community has reached some sort of plateau, where the user base is big enough to handle more than before. I don't mean a plateau that seems to continue forever without progress but the earlier aspect of the plateau, the point where things get stable and there is the potential for more. I am just on the edges, but I can see that.

Discuss 2 can and should rival other systems like Vanilla. It can be both easier to get started and also have more potential. It can win the battle for the elite system above a basic system like Wordpress, and if that peak can be reached, could challenge at the basic level as well.

I have server space, and I have attention to give. I would install Discuss 2 tomorrow if I could, test that puppy to the hilt, and provide detailed feedback.

The only way it gets great is through testing and feedback and improvement, and that takes time but has true value. True quality can only be created by a deep and committed community.

I know you are out there. Let's tell the developers we are ready to move this forward ;-)
