Description
Added Hebrew quote 37 - a poem by Chaim Nachman Bialik. The poem's name is "shacha nafshi שחה נפשי".
I have provided a literal (not a poetic) translation. I promise it is beautiful in the original Hebrew....
My soul falls
My soul falls to the ground
Under the burden of your love
To me, because I was
A coin in your pot
And why did you drink up my ornaments?
What is my sin, what is my strength?
Not a poet, nor a prophet,
I am a woodcutter.
A woodcutter, a man with an axe
Innocently doing my work
And the day falls, and my hand falls,
And my axe is blunted.
I am a day-labourer
Diverting my work to you
And no ephemeral things to me now
And no blasts for you all.
How will we bear our faces?
With what shall will bring the coming day?
Each in the thoughts of his world!
Each in the torments of his heart!
