Hi, I am new to Linux, so please don't be to hard on me. Please see the issue below, and tell me what am I missing? Thank you in advance.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install latest available OS for the Raspberry Pi (Raspberry PI OS) from here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/
  2. Install latest or latest stable MonoDevelop from here: https://www.mono-project.com/download/stable/#download-lin-raspbian. I have tried Raspbian 9 and 10, as well as Debian 9 and 10 versions.
  3. Check the Application Menu - I cannot find an entry for MonoDevelop. Also, there is no desktop (or anywhere else) icon that I can find.

Current Behavior

Check the Application Menu - I cannot find an entry for MonoDevelop. Also, there is no desktop (or anywhere else) icon that I can find.

Expected Behavior

I would like an entry for MonoDevelop in the Application Menu, or an icon that I can use to start MonoDevelop.

This seems late
It seems you have installed mono but you haven't installed MonoDevelop.
Mono is not a graphical application hence you can't find desktop enties for it
Follow these instructions to download monodevelop: https://www.monodevelop.com/download/

Hi TKivai,

Thank you for your response. I have installed MonoDevelop. In fact I have written a couple of programs using it on an older platform, using Gtk libraries. When I wanted to move to the latest OS I got into trouble. Tried half a dozen different approaches to install the OS, then MonoDevelop, and then to tweak various files, to no avail. No menus, no icons. I then decided to stop wasting too much time on this, and reverted to the old platform. Can't afford to fiddle with details like this when real life deadlines loom. :-) I hope someone will clean this up at some point.
Best, PMBT
