There is a lack of Sinhala fonts on GNU/Linux systems. lklug font has not seen updates in years and our effort to maintain it was never realized.

We need to figure out the best way to distribute our fonts in GNU/Linux. Debian packaging is a must do, but we can explore Flatpak and snap as well. Starting point would be to Mmake a .deb package with Abhaya and all the Sinhala/Tamil fonts released from Mooniak and in the future from @textualworks. We have some requirements and things to consider.

  • We have the keep our Github repos as the upstream and use some sort of a CI process to build debs from releases.
  • What would we call the package? (Sinhala and Tamil fonts?)
  • Optionally we can maintain a separate master repo with binary releases from our fonts and
other open licensed Sinhala and Tamil fonts.

If anybody is interested in collaborating on this, we extend our full support. Let's discuss here. We have received requests and suggestion and all of those will go here.

You can simply Auto-build and publish Snap packages from the GitHub repos. see: https://build.snapcraft.io/ .
