Hi-- thanks! The _oasis updates look good, but what's the rationale for merging the Makefiles?

Basically, I did not see the point of keeping the auto-generated Makefile (which was not doing much) and mostly replaced it with Makefile.local. IMHO, with oasis, the main goal of the makefile should be to enable convenience targets to the developer (the end user should use oasis only).
