machine-setup

This is how I setup my machine. It is running OS X 10.8.4.

  • Name your computer. I name my machines with the last name of a former US President +
  • Install Chrome
  • Turn off Chrome Remembering Passwords +
  • Add Duck Duck Go as a Search Engine +
  • Login to Chrome
  • Install LastPass Chrome Extension +
  • Install Vimium Chrome Extension +
  • Install Buffer App Chrome Extension +
  • Install Dropbox +
  • Install Git with GitHub for Mac +
  • Install oh-my-zsh +
  • Change terminal to have 90% opacity and no blur. It's convenient read text while typing.
  • Install Quicksilver +
  • Install iaWriter +
  • Install Smart Timer +
  • Install Flux +
  • Install your dotfiles +
  • Setup your vimrc with vundle and ctrlp + +
  • Generate ssh key + (or you can just use the key given from installing Git with Githu)
  • Install Box.com +
  • Install HipChat +
  • Install GoogleDrive +
  • Install Transmit +
  • Install XCode +
  • Install XCode command line tools +
  • Install Homebrew +
  • Set usr local permissions - sudo chown -R $(whoami) /usr/local
  • Install chruby using brew +
  • Install rubys +
  • Install nodejs +
  • Install Skype +
  • Install Heroku Toolbelt +
