Fenix Version: Mozilla/5.0 (Android 9; Mobile; rv:68.0) Gecko/68.0 Firefox/68.0
Device: OnePlus 6T
Android Version: 9
Issue Type: Functional (doesn’t behave as expected)
Tried in other browser: ☒

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Visit a site that requires a login
  2. Hope Firefox Preview recognizes the username and password field
  3. Open 1password via autofill
  4. Get sad because Firefox didn't tell 1password which site I'm visiting.

Expected Behavior

  1. Visit a site that requires a login
  2. Firefox Preview recognizes the username and password field, allows me to launch 1password via autofill
  3. Firefox tells 1password which site I'm on, and 1password shows me the correct password to fill.

Actual Behavior

  1. Visit a site that requires a login
  2. Hope Firefox Preview recognizes the username and password field
  3. Open 1password via autofill
  4. Get sad because Firefox didn't tell 1password which site I'm visiting.

Wish for an upcoming feature

Firefox Preview does not appear to "talk" to the Android OS about password field filling consistently.

When logging into sites in Firefox Preview, some fields are recognized as username and password fields and allow me to call on 1Password to fill the fields. Sadly Firefox Preview doesn't "tell" 1Password what site it is on, so I have to search within 1password for the site.

If I visit the same site in Android Chrome, it immediately knows that it is a password field, allows me to use 1password to fill the field, and Chrome tells 1password which site I'm on.

Can reproduce with 1password: on Chrome, it suggests the login related to the website you are on. On Fenix only suggests the logins you already associated with Fenix, not the website.
That is tracked here, for more details about the issue: mozilla-mobile/fenix#87 (comment)
