Layout design implementation doesn't scale properly

The current layout design was not built with small screens in mind. It doesn't scale well on small screens and in some extreme cases, entire UI components are not visible to the user (see #221).

It also doesn't scale on large screens. It poorly utilizes the extra screen space, in some cases leaving 1/3 of the screen real-estate completely untouched.

Temporarily fix has been merged for the home screen, details regarding a permanent fix are explained within the PR. I hope to get to this as apart of the larger design rework.

This issue no longer prevents app usability anywhere in the app, but it does effect the user friendliness of the UI and in some cases is quite rough and not polished as much as it should be.
