If the user doesn't need to hold right-click then release to trigger Home Dash menu items, it could make sense to keep the easy-close functionality.

Closed by a321392: Restore right-click-to-close functionality on the Firefox icon
Look for right-clicks when being pressed (and not on release) so that right-click, move, release will activate Home Dash instead of closing a tab.
