We intended that variables of type MPI_CHAR arrays in the tools information interface would represent strings. However, we did not explicitly state this. To rectify this, we introduce the following errata text:
page 565 line 36 add the following:
The use of MPI_CHAR in the MPI Tool information interface implies a null-terminated character array.
Advice to users. The list of types may be expanded in future versions of the MPI Standard. (End of advice to users.)
