Google has decided to deprecate the API used by Photoframe and many other apps. It's being replaced with Photos Library API.

Photoframe supports both APIs but going forward it's recommended you use GooglePhotos since the other method will cease to work soon. Please look at the FAQ on this Wiki for how to enable the Photos Library API on your Google Account. It will NOT WORK OUT OF THE BOX without enabling this API.

The new method of obtaining photos relies on albums. You specify the name of the album you want to use as source for images. You can add multiple entries for more than one album.

There's also a special album called latest which grabs the last 1000 photos from your library (without any filtering).

If you want to have automatic selection of people, you can create photo albums which auto-populate with select people, please see this article.

Current implementation of Google Photos provider will limit any album to the last 1000 photos to avoid burning through the API call quota that google has. Future updates will allow customization of more options and also better filtering.
