Financial transactions are happening in the context of projects, and My Expenses should allow to manage this link.
Different implementations are possible:

  1. Projects are handled as more or less independent sets of data, and user switches between projects as he would switch between files in a desktop program.
  2. Projects are stored in a separate table that user can manage, linked to the transactions table and handled through an additional field in the form. User can filter on projects and generate reports based on projects.
  3. There is no special support for projects, but implementation of Tags/labels in addition to categories #142 would allow to express them as tags.

Please comment, if you want to help decide on which strategy will bring most benefit to users.

+1 for option 3 (#142). :)
EDIT: 148 was related by mistake.

@klawdhfzasjhaa Would you mind explaining the relation with issue #148 ?

I guess, I simply misquoted. #142 should be the reference. Corrected it on my previous post.

Projects should (maybe optionally ?) be mapped to QIF classes during import and export.

Let me present my use case that somewhat fits the 1st point of the above description.

I don't use ME on daily basis because my bank records are more or less good enough for me. However, I track precisely my spending on holidays. ME works great for that (thanks for everything you've done so far to make it so great). Alas, without the notion of projects which can contain not only transactions but accounts, categories, payees etc., it is inconvenient to both start and close a trip and archive data for future reference.
