I would say, "are managed transparently and will be used to compensate work and expenses by core team members."

The wording of this paragraph could lead someone to think that funds donated to OpenCollective do not support you. I would suggest something like this:

Funds donated via Patreon directly support Olivier Tassinari's work on Material-UI. Funds donated via OpenCollective also support Olivier, but can also be shared amongst other contributors and pay for operating expenses. These funds are managed transparently through the OpenCollective website. Your name/logo will receive proper recognition and exposure by donating on either platform.

OpenCollective do not support you

Oh, I was assuming that it would morally be more right me not receiving OpenCollective donations by opening a Patreon page. But I like your idea :).

Actually, there's another correction needed here:

will be used to compensate work and expenses by core team members.

should be

will be used to compensate core team members for work and expenses.

Just a thought: I'd move the support section to the end of the readme. When you discover the project for the first time, you don't really want to know how to support it but how to use it, what it does and why it is cool.

Edit: Actually, my entire first screen is filled with sponsor infos and explanations on how Patreon and Open Collective work. 😕 That's not what I expect a README to look like.

@leMaik This is what webpack do, the opposite of what vuejs and babel are doing.

@oliviertassinari Okay… So it'll stay that way?

@leMaik I don't know. I'm just benchmarking.

I'm trying to understand the reasoning behind doing it one way vs another. Your point is valid. The other I can think of is the difference of funding between webpack and the other projects. Maybe it's simpler for them to reduce the promotion sponsors and backers get. Or maybe it doesn't matter.
