Logo? #198

@evolbug thanks for making the logo! I really like your direction and the incorporation of the moon and Rust cog. I have one request. Could you try an inverse design, with the moon forming the perimeter and the cog design (somehow) incorporated on the inside? I hope that that makes the design a little less "busy" |
@Wodann I don't think it'd look any less busy, it's also harder to incorporate the rust gear and moon in the inverse order. It would need either element changed entirely then |
Thanks for the mood board. I really like the ideas 🙂 |
Sorry, I missed your response. Yes, my idea would be to leave the moon as is, but incorporate a smaller version of the gear (or multiple) on the surface of the moon. We don't per se have to stick with an identical gear to Rust - not at all actually. A reference would be good enough, similar to how we have a reference to Lua by using the moon. |
Mun actually comes from the Moon (or Mun) in kerbal space program. 😁 We also have to watch out that the logo (or a version of it) also works as a small icon that we can use in editors etc. |
I tried editing @evolbug's logo to illustrate what I meant: When zooming in from far away, this will look as follows: It has the effect of hiding the Rust logo inside our moon crater landscape - sort of like an easter egg. A small black/white logo would look like this: I realise my PS skills are not that good, but I hope this illustrates my concepts. |
Tbh, the minty color makes it look like Minmus (yum!) and not Mun. Although the color is better now, it would make sense to make it more grey-ish? |
That looks amazing! WDYT @Wodann ? |
Thank you so much for creating these, @jonatcln! My preference would go to the logo on the first row and column 🙂 Would you be able to create an svg of the logo? How would you like to be credited? E.g. as a contributor to the Mun programming language and website? |
I can definitely provide an svg! In fact, the designs above were already made in Inkscape. However, they were not 'properly' designed yet (not well aligned, not symmetric, etc.). So in order to fix these problems, I recreated it from scratch. There are some visual differences, but overall it's still the same logo. It currently looks like this: I'd be happy to make any further adjustments if necessary. Also, what would be the best way to share the final svg?
That sounds good to me 🙂 I'd love to also help contribute code in the future! |
We currently don't really have a logo other than a cutout of the text on the website. It would be really awesome if we could design a proper logo for Mun that we could use all over the place.
The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
