as a cursor that always is best visible i prefer the windows arrow inverted big .
in the area the arrow occupies the underlying colours are simply inverted (negative colours) for highest contrast . this may also give the smallest cursor dimensions possible ( a dot ) .
not wanting to say the newer cursors 1.10 are bad . meant as a request for improvement of 1.0 . see here : #353 .

if going with small cursor and getting lost in picture , it might be useful to have a keystroke for highlighting or maximizing the cursor momentarily . big cursors are often disturbing visual balance while pixel peeping .
these are my thoughts , but i massively prefer a fast cursor to convenience . thx )

1.0 is to old for me to support, so WONTFIX anything on that branch.

Also WONTFIX on a keystroke for revealing the cursor: this is best handled using your desktop environment's shortcut key. In Windows 7, you set it up in Mouse Properties → Pointer Options → Visibility → Show location of the pointer when I press the CTRL key. In GNOME, you set it up in Tweak Tool →Keyboard and Mouse → Show Location of Pointer.

X11 cursors (and therefore GDK cursors) cannot display in inverse video. I can swap the black and the white we use however - is that what you want?

Have you tried a 1.2.0-alpha prerelease? That is the active development branch.

Postponing till after the 1.2.0 release, since we're approaching the beta cycle.

(Assuming you meant 1.1.0 for "1.10")

I should add - I could add a hotkey for flipping the cursor's black and white pixels, but it would only affect the ring cursor. Let me know if you think that would be useful to your workflow.

It would be great if we can customize the fill color of the cursor. The thin circle or cross hair is still hard to see.
