Draft at https://blogs.mysociety.org/mysociety/?p=19522&preview=true

A general fact-check from a dev (and from @TomSteinberg) would be good, thank you.

PS The partial aim of this blog post is to act as Google juice for people searching for how to publish transcripts; hopefully it should also be good to point interested, but untecchy, people towards.

@MyfanwyNixon Post is looking great so far!

Just a couple of minor things:

  • Step 1. (Sign up) is likely to change in the next week or so as we make the switch to site-wide user accounts. I'll let you know when we've pushed it live, but basically it will mean the user will need to pick a password, then they can create as many instances as they like using that user account (rather than have a different password for each instance).
  • "There’s also the option to import data" - I'd rather not link to the migration tool at the moment, it needs some more work done before I'd be happy pointing users towards it.

Thanks Chris! It'll be a couple of weeks before these go live - at least - so I can integrate these changes at the time.

@MyfanwyNixon AFAICS this never actually went live — is the plan still to publish this post, or has it been somewhat overtaken by other developments now?

@akuckartz It's 'Not Found' because it's an unpublished draft.

Good point @chrismytton - I guess it is still a useful post but one that doesn't key in with recent developments. Given that our next message is probably going to be about using PopIt for WriteIt, this would muddy the message a bit. Plus, it feels a bit late to start building stuff for the UK election now, and anyway YNMP has done all that.

So in a nutshell I guess we should either trash it, or completely refashion it to go out at a later date with another potential usage.
