Text is not recognised in Gnome/gtk programs in Ubuntu 10.10 #68

I am using NeatX along with NoMachine's NX client to connect to a machine with
Ubuntu 10.10 installed. When running Gnome/gtk programs (such as
gnome-terminal, gedit, gvim), for some reasons text is not recognised as text
and is rendered using JPEG compression, which is slow.

QT/KDE programs like konsole work well. Old gnome programs in ubuntu 9.10 used
to work well.

This issue is probably the same as Ubuntu bug #682338 / FreeDesktop bug #32014.

Thanks Ryan - I will try preloading the older libcairo2 as you suggested in the
FreeDesktop bug report.
