Overview

RCumber is a rails plugin that gives your customers a web interface where they can view, edit and run Cucumber tests directly on your rails project.

This project was originally forked from github.com/christophermoura/rcumber by garytaylor(github.com/garytaylor/rcumber) the original repository has not seen commits since late 2008. The repository this one was forked from has not seen commits since early 2009. The licensed developer jgoodsen (github.com/jgoodsen) no longer has a public rcumber repository.

As of recent tests with existing rails projects running rails 2.3.5, cucumber 0.6.2 and cucumber-rails 0.2.4 this plugin is not currently usable. Check westwardwd.lighthouseapp.com/projects/46048-rcumber/overview for a list of know issues and check back for upates

Current Features

Currently, Rcumber is just a simple CRUD viewer for cucumber tests in a rails project with the ability to run the tests and see the results.

Roadmap

* Whats a Cucumber GUI without its own feature sets. These were referred to as "demos"
  by the original developer but none were ever written
* Fix fatal bugs that currently stop normal usage
  (See http://westwardwd.lighthouseapp.com/projects/46048-rcumber/tickets)
* Clean some nasty code smells
* Fix the install/uninstall process
* Prepare for Rails 3
* Tag support
* Handling of large projects with many features (Running all right now when lots of features exist will take forever)

Installation

(Note: please read the Overview before installing)

It’s simple to add rcumber to your rails project - just install it as plugin into your project:

cd ./vendor/plugins
git clone git://github.com/jrwest/rcumber.git
cd rcumber
rake rcumber:install <-- all this does is copy the nifty cucumber.gif to your /images directory

Add to your routes

You need to add the following to your routes.rb until I figure out how to bootstrap this in the plugin init process:

map.rcumber 'rcumber', :controller => 'rcumbers', :action => 'index'
map.rcumber_runall 'rcumber/runall', :controller => 'rcumbers', :action => 'runall'
map.rcumber_runmany 'rcumber/run_many', :controller => 'rcumbers', :action => 'run_many'
map.resources :rcumbers do |rcumber|
  rcumber.run 'run', :controller => 'rcumbers', :action => 'run'
end
