I'm just getting started with neomutt and am using a sample neomuttrc to get going. The rc sources the file /usr/share/doc/neomutt/samples/gpg.rc which I don't have. Where can I find/generate this file? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to NeoMutt, @AckslD

It's in the source repo: https://github.com/neomutt/neomutt/blob/master/contrib/gpg.rc
There's a gpg2 version: https://gist.github.com/flatcap/c0d567ea97ef1b68ecf3df698210f9a5

But...

Unless you're a crypto wizard, we recommend a single setting instead: set crypt_use_gpgme = yes
That means you don't need all the pgp_*_command or smime_*_command settings.

GPG Made Easy (gpgme) is a library that wraps up all those tricky commands (and does a good job :-)

Thanks a lot for your reply @flatcap! I will try to use gpgme (I'm not a crypto wizard :) ). Is there a more recent "starter-rc" than this which uses gpgme? Also, in the docs the path doc/neomutt/samples/ is mentioned, should this perhaps be updated?

Sorry for the slow reply.
That starter-rc is actually quite new.

Alternatively, there are quite a few guides to getting started, on the internet.

in the docs the path doc/neomutt/samples/ is mentioned

Thanks, I'll try to find some time to update them.
