As a replacement, you may want to try LibreOffice
NeoOffice is an office suite for Mac that is based on old versions of OpenOffice and LibreOffice. With NeoOffice, you can view, edit, and save older OpenOffice and LibreOffice documents.
Note: if you need to view, edit, and save newer LibreOffice or Microsoft Office documents, you may want to try LibreOffice. In most cases, the latest version of LibreOffice can open and save Microsoft Office documents far better than NeoOffice.
Steps to install:
- Download and open NeoOffice-2022.7_Professional_Edition-Universal.dmg to install this version of NeoOffice.
- Optional: Some database features and wizards in NeoOffice Professional Edition require Java. If NeoOffice displays a dialog that says Java is required, install one of the following versions of Java SE Development Kit (JDK) from Oracle. Note: only the following versions of Oracle's JDK will work with NeoOffice 2022. Neither Apple's Java nor Oracle's Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) will work:
- Silicon Mac: Oracle JDK 17 ARM 64 or higher
- Intel Mac: Oracle JDK 17 x86 or higher
This version of NeoOffice includes a universal installer and that runs natively on both Silicon and Intel Macs on the following versions of macOS:
- macOS Sonoma
- macOS Ventura
- macOS Monterey
- macOS Big Sur
NeoOffice 2022.7 Professional Edition is still based on LibreOffice 4.4 so it should have the same features and behaviors as NeoOffice 2017.
This version of NeoOffice fixes the following bugs:

- Fix for crash when spellchecking
