The Newsmast Foundation is a diverse , democratic organisation, dedicated to building safe, committed knowledge-sharing networks that change social media for good. We boost conversations and create connections with the aim of making real change.
Over the last year we have successfully forked from Mastodon, built and launched a combined server and app, hand-curated 60+ communities and introduced Community Feeds, accessible to any Fediverse user, bringing together key contributors, connections and conversations from around the Fediverse.
There’s no algorithm, ads, or hidden agenda. Just good people trying to make a space where others can thrive and learn as they go.
Next we're branching out across the Fediverse and the wider web by increasing the interoperability of our communities using an API.
Our team curates posts by following hashtags, key contributors, and filtering out specific accounts and key words. All done by human hands. No AI or algorithms. The result is an exciting Community debate on the topics that matter. Over 60 hand-built Communities covering everything from Activism to Academia, Breaking News to Biodiversity, Climate Change to Creative Arts.
By implementing Newsmast’s community API you’ll enable your users to discover a curated section of posts sharing news and knowledge t from diverse sources and timelines, directly within your own application. Users will be provided with a richer and more dynamic timeline, encouraging higher engagement and user retention.
All public endpoints comply to the standard Mastodon REST API using HTTP GET requests. There are currently limited plans for accessing authenticated POST requests.
